Meg Groves is an up and coming artist whose first album is a heartfelt blend of contemporary, pop, country, and blues. Meg has a gift for writing her own music and lyrics, which are inspirational, thoughtful, and moving. More than a few songs will get stuck in your head as you enjoy track after track of Spark! As a college graduate, Meg will no doubt have lots of experiences to touch upon as she continues to write and create. She hopes that you enjoy Spark and will follow her journey on her performer Facebook page Meg Groves.

Meg wrote her first song “Spark” her senior year in high school. Interested in recording her song, so she could perform it for her school’s talent show, Meg went to Red Silo Studios, located in Georgetown, TX. She was able to record her song “Spark” with the help of Red Silo Studio’s owner Aaron Kemkaran. After recording “Spark” Meg had a sudden urge to write more songs. Interested in her music, Aaron helped create Meg’s first album Spark. She is exceedingly grateful for all of his efforts on her debut album!

Meg has a BFA in Acting from Coastal Carolina University. She  studied under the marvelous professors of Coastal Carolina University like acting professors Monica Bell, John Woodson, and Robin Russell, physical theater professor Ben Sota, and dance instructor Adam Pelty. Her roles during her college years were Babe from Crimes of the Heart, Christine from Picnic, and Gertrude from On the Razzle.

Growing up, she surrounded herself with music, theatre, and art. She took an interest in theatre at a young age, performing in “The Frog Prince” and “Tales of Hans Christian Anderson” at the Paramount Missoula Children’s Theatre. Meg got her first lead role in “The People Garden” at Zachary Scott Theater. She even got a taste of performing in the big apple by dancing & singing in the 80th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. In December 2006, Meg created her own business and performed as a Hannah Montana impersonator at birthday parties, charity events as well as a number of festivals for many years, as recently as Oct 2012 at the Buddy Walk, an event to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

Interested in all outlets for acting, Meg did a little dabbling in the film and commercial industry. While representing Austin’s Models and Talent Agency, she performed in her first music video “On My Father’s Wings”, and appeared in a commercial for the Nintendo DS game “Treasure World”. Though she likes to work in both film and commercial, her passion has always been musical theatre and stage acting. Most of her theatre and dance training was accomplished at TexARTS, a performing arts school in Lakeway, TX, founded by Robin Lewis and Todd Dellinger. While at Tex-ARTS, Meg performed in “All That Jazz”, “Grease” (as Patty Simcox), and many other TexARTS Broadway showcases. Meg took many singing, acting, and dance classes during her 5 year tenure with the program.

Meg has studied under many wonderful teachers. She has had vocal instruction with Mariann Cook, currently head of the MT program at Rider University, Amanda Blalock, OU – BFA MT graduate, and Gene Raymond, an expert in Speech Level Singing. Dance training took place at Ballet Austin and at TexARTS with Robin Lewis, currently head of the MT Dance program at Rider University, and also with Vincent Sandoval. She studied acting with Todd Dellinger, MTCA’s Rhyn McLemore and with Abigail Flynn here in Austin.

Meg’s influences and role models are Kristen Chenoweth and Taylor Swift. In the acting and singing world, Kristen Chenoweth is what Meg aspires to be like. Just like Kristen Chenoweth, Meg aspires to be successful in both the world of theatre and film. Taylor Swift is Meg’s songwriter inspiration. One of Meg’s dreams is to become an acclaimed songwriter like Taylor Swift.

As Meg Groves continues to write and  share her music with others, she hopes you'll find the motivation and meaning behind her music and lyrics. Though her music expresses how she feels or what she has been through, she encourages others to listen to her music and discover what the song means to them.
